Snorkeling and Scuba Diving
Discover a different world under the surface of the sea, as Margarita Island offers opportunities to get to know the wonders of this world. Here are many different snorkeling and scuba diving sites, with corals and colorful fish, suited for beginners as well as professionals. For advanced divers, the waters of Cubagua, in which a sunken old ferry is submerged, offer a special and different diving setting.

Windsurfing
Windsurfing is particularly practiced at the El Yague Beach, which is the only place in the world guaranteeing ideal conditions all year round. El Yague is known worldwide for its national and international tournaments such as: WILD WIND, which is held in June and attracts participants from all over the world. It is possible to rent equipment and take windsurfing lessons at the beach.
Kitesurfing
El Yaque Beach, which is a windsurfer’s paradise, does also have a beach section designated for Kite Surfing. It is possible to rent equipment and to take Kite Surfing lessons.

Bike Riding
Some tourists choose to bring their bike from home, as it can be difficult to rent bikes on Margarita Island. However, it is important to notice that it is extremely dangerous to move around in the insular traffic. Thus, we can only recommend riding your bike in places with very limited or no traffic, such as: Coche Island, the “La Sierra” mountain, or la Caracola Beach. The latter is closed for traffic twice a day. (Please see below).

Running and Roller Skating
The city beach, la Caracola, which is situated behind the shopping center CM in the outskirts of Porlamar, is a gathering place for fitness people. You will even find bodybuilders here in a small open-air fitness center in the middle of the beach.  The best hours to practice sports on the beach boulevard, is during 6:00-9:00 a.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m., when the air is colder and traffic on the boulevard is obstructed.

Motorized Aquatic Sports
At many big hotels, and at the popular beaches, it is possible to rent motorized equipments such as aquatic scooters and skis. We can also offer you an organized speed boating tour, at Margarita’s northern coastline, with English speaking guides.
