We will fly from Margarita and right across the mainland to the small town Tucupita. From here we will be transported through the delta by boat. The Delta is about the size of the state of Massachusetts (in the U.S). While seated in the boat, you will have optimal conditions to explore and enjoy the fascinating wild fauna and flora. After having sailed for about one and a half hour we reach the camp, Mis Palafitos, which will constitute our base during our stay. We will be shown to our rooms, have lunch, and afterwards it is time to discover the jungle. Guided by local Indians, we will learn some of the secrets of the jungle. Next, we will sail further up the rivers to look at the vegetation and to take a walk into the heart of the jungle. Here we will taste some of the food amassed by nature. Also, we will visit the Warao-Indians and learn how they live in their characteristic pillar huts, as well as get a chance to buy some souvenirs. After dinner in the camp, we will go on a night tour to try to get lucky and find some animals asleep in the trees. We will spend the night in the camp’s pillar huts in the middle of the jungle, well protected from mosquitoes and other bugs. In the morning we will explore how nature wakes up, as we sail on the river in carved out trunks. Later in the morning, we will try to go fishing, and try to catch some of the notorious piranha fish for our lunch. Meanwhile we move up the river, and watch the animals in the trees. If we are lucky, we will get to see howler monkeys swinging themselves from tree to tree. After lunch, it will be time to pack up our stuff and get on our way back to the civilization, after having enjoyed two exciting, unforgettable, and action-packed days in the delta.
